Energy-performance-based acquisition incorporates energy performance goals, language, and incentives into the planning, design, construction, and operation of a building. DOE has developed an energy-performance-based acquisition how-to guide, as well as case studies, fact sheets, and other resources to support commercial building owners, operators, and design-build teams in effectively implementing this approach.
Key steps in the energy-performance-based acquisition process are:
- Define a Performance-Based Acquisition Process
- Develop Energy Performance Goals
- Require Energy Performance
- Manage a Performance-based Acquisition Process
- Verify Energy Performance
More information can be found by viewing the collection of goal-based acquisition case studies.
Introductory training modules that tie these resources together are under development in collaboration with the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA). Links to these training modules will be posted here when they are available in winter 2013.
This project provides training modules for new construction acquisition based on energy performance.
