As motorsports enthusiasts know, racing innovation once meant turbine-powered Indy cars and six-wheeled formula cars, but those days are mostly over. Today, Green Racing encourages the use of innovative technologies that foster energy efficiency and renewable, low-carbon fuels. Green Racing is a partnership between the Energy Department (DOE), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and SAE (the Society of Automotive Engineers) to help develop, test and promote the use of cleaner fuels and advanced vehicle technologies through motorsports. Each new Green Racing season brings with it new opportunities for manufacturers to demonstrate advanced transportation technologies and renewable fuels, and the Twelve Hours of Sebring race at Sebring International Raceway provides excellent testing grounds. Risi Competizione's Ferrari F458 Italia emerged as the winner of the DEKRA Green Challenge Award. The award recognizes the most "clean, fast, and efficient" GT Le Mans (GTLM) competitor in each TUDOR Championship race as determined by the Green Racing Protocols established by the Department of Energy, Environmental Protection Agency and SAE International. The TUDOR United SportsCar Championship marked the start of its second season as a race series with exciting close calls and a first-time winner. The 2015 season kicked off with the Rolex 24 in sunny Daytona, Florida. With 24 hours and more than 2,600 miles of racing, this race puts teams to the test, and makes fuel efficiency makes all the difference. Read more

Green Racing had the opportunity to recognize the racing teams bringing sustainable technologies to the racetrack through the TUDOR Night of Champions award ceremony. At this event, Reuben Sarkar, Department of Energy (DOE) Deputy Assistant Secretary for Transportation, presented Porsche with the Green Racing Challenge Award. Read more

A new chapter in green racing revved up this past weekend at the Rolex 24 at Daytona. The endurance race was the first race of the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship and was sanctioned by the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA). Read more.

The world witnessed the first race of the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship last weekend at the famed Daytona International Speedway. The International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) hosted the Rolex 24 at Daytona featured vehicles competing in the Daytona Prototype, Prototype Challenge, GT Daytona and Grand Touring Le Mans (GTLM) classes.
