Federal Laws and Requirements Search
The Guiding Principles for Sustainable Federal Buildings were issued on February 26, 2016. The 2016 Guiding Principles replaced the 2008 Guiding Principles to better reflect sustainable building design. Guiding Principles are used by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to score Federal agencies' progress and compliance within the "Green Buildings" category on annual agency OMB Sustainability/Energy Scorecards.
Signed on May 17, 2018, Executive Order 13834: Efficient Federal Operations directs federal agencies to manage buildings, vehicles, and operations to optimize energy and environmental performance, reduce waste, and cut costs.
