Solar Policy Environment: Berkeley
This document outlines the policies in place affecting solar deployment.
The goals of this project are to (1) accelerate the adoption of solar technology at the local level by engaging the City, service providers, end users and regulators; (2) provide a model for other cities; and (3) promote solar technology among residents and local businesses.
This will be achieved by developing and piloting a turn-key program to install solar photovoltaic (PV) and solar hot water and air heating (SWAH) systems in the residential and small-to-medium commercial/public sectors. This program approach will use a city-sanctioned third party that is independent of installing contractors and/or product manufacturers, to represent owners in specifying, purchasing and managing energy efficiency projects.
