Portfolio Energy Performance

Better Buildings Challenge Partners strive to decrease portfolio-wide source energy use intensity (EUI) and to increase the percent improvement compared to a set baseline. Hillsboro's portfolio consists of more than 20 buildings and 475 thousand square feet. Since 2009, Hillsboro has improved energy performance by 11%. Energy savings have been achieved by implementing a new Energy Management Plan that includes many lighting retrofits, HVAC and controls upgrades at the three largest facilities, and an energy management policies awareness program focused on low-cost opportunities for savings.

Energy Performance by Facility

Looking at the percent improvement in energy performance across all facilities can provide insight into how an organization is saving energy. Hillsboro has achieved energy performance improvement at more than half of their facilities. There are five facilities that have experienced an increase in Source EUI. These facilities may be targeted for future energy efficiency improvements.

Identifying Opportunities for Improvement

Facility-level energy performance metrics, including EUI and percent improvement to date, are critical to track progress over time and to identify opportunities for additional energy savings. Hillsboro's portfolio consists of facilities with a wide range of baseline EUIs from 100 to 800 kBtu/sq. ft. The majority of facilities have shown energy improvement since 2009. The facilities located near or below the 0% axis may present good opportunities for further savings.
