Better Buildings Webinar Series: Kick-starting Your Energy Management Program

Better Buildings Webinar Series: Kick-starting Your Energy Management Program

January 7, 2014
3:00-4:00 PM EST

Presenters: Jaxon Love (Shorenstein), Kelly Boulton (Allegheny College), Renee Lafrenz (Alliance to Save Energy)

Time, money, and expertise are often barriers to a robust energy management program. Join Better Buildings Challenge Partners Shorenstein and Allegheny College as they describe solutions that have helped them jump these hurdles to develop a culture of sustainability within their organizations—and a track record of successful energy efficiency projects. Jaxon Love details Shorenstein’s experience bringing on energy management fellows for summer appointments, which built the case for a full-time sustainability position at the company. Kelly Boulton outlines how she and campus professors have worked together, engaging students to develop and present the business case for campus energy efficiency projects to administrators. Renee Lefrenz will profile the Alliance to Save Energy's PowerSave Campus program, a student internship supporting energy efficiency efforts in schools. Register here.

Partnering with Occupants, EH&S, and Facilities Management for Conservation in Scientific Laboratories

Partnering with Occupants, EH&S, and Facilities Management for Conservation in Scientific Laboratories

January 16, 2014
2:30-3:30 PM EST

Presenters: Kathy Ramirez-Aguilar (CU-Boulder)

The CU Green Labs Program at the University of Colorado in Boulder has been creatively engaging lab members and lab department administrators to suggest ideas and participate in conservation efforts in their laboratories. In this webinar, Kathy will describe how the CU Green Labs has gone from a new entity on campus to a program that is not only known and accepted by numerous lab departments, but is also seen as a beneficial resource to labs. She will also describe the team approach structure of the program, involving the CU-Boulder EH&S Department and Facilities Management, that has greatly contributed to the success of the program, and how the use of posters focused on lab equipment and lab topics have been particularly helpful in raising awareness among lab members. Register here and dial 866-740-1260 to access the webinar.

Target Audience: Laboratory managers, federal and university energy managers, federal and university environmental health and safety staff, federal and university facilities management staff, laboratory researchers and practitioners, sustainability officers and staff.
