An often overlooked opportunity for saving energy and money is just outside your door - parking lighting! On April 15, 2014, twelve organizations were recognized by the Lighting Energy Efficiency in Parking (LEEP) Campaign for leading the way in energy-efficient parking lighting. These organizations, combined with others who submitted for a LEEP award, are saving nearly 45 million kilowatt-hours and $4 million annually by upgrading to high efficiency lighting in over 500,000 parking spaces. The LEEP Campaign is a recognition and guidance program supported through the Building Owners and Managers Association, the Green Parking Council, and the International Facility Management Association, with technical assistance from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Better Buildings Alliance.
